Celebrating National Nacho Day at the Beach
An exciting and delicious day of celebration arrives on Monday, Nov. 6, with National Nacho Day. What started in 1940 by a restaurant in Coahuila, Mexico, has become a tasty sensation in North America.
You can celebrate by grabbing a plate of nachos at restaurants in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, including Burro Azul, The Hangout, and LuLu’s.
At Burro Azul, there are several different ways to get delicious nachos. In the special lunch from 11 am to 4, Monday through Friday, you can get carne asada or chicken nachos. These nachos come with assorted tortilla chips coated with queso, a mixture of cheddar and jack cheeses, black beans, tangy pickled jalapeños and zesty chipotle aioli spread evenly on the large plate.
If you don’t make it in time for lunch, there is still the starter portion on the regular menu.
Each chip you pull is perfectly preserved with cheeses, queso, chipotle aioli, black beans, jalapeños and your choice of protein. The nachos provide a great combination of a tang with a pleasant kick of heat from the jalapeños. That is the idea behind most of their foods at Burro Azul, delicious Mexican food with a kick.
The Hangout also serves delicious chicken and pulled pork nachos as appetizers. The large plate of tortilla chips comes with pulled pork with black beans and Alabama sweet BBQ sauce or shredded chicken with lime crema. Both nachos come with warm queso and shredded jack cheddar cheese blend.
While all of the nachos are appetizers or starters, the dish is large enough that you can share it with everyone at the table. It is so delicious that you may not want to share.
Another restaurant that offers a unique blend of nachos is LuLus http://lulusfunfoodmusic.com. The nachos come with corn tortilla chips, tomatoes, jalapeños, queso, melted cheddar and served with a special blend of LuLu’s Sassy Salsa with guacamole as an extra. They have four different kinds of protein, but we chose their most unique, but most delicious protein, crab melt. The results reached further than our expectations.
